Polish, Polish, and More Polish
Last month of development, and we are finally on the stage of polishing our game, meaning we're done with adding any new mechanics, systems, or features. I have been mostly just polishing things, fixing bugs, and giving the player more feedback with every action to make the game/application more responsive to the player's actions.
Cheat Code System: I had to update the cheat code section of our game to skip the newest puzzles and teleport around the map. Before all the cheat codes were written in a Google document paper, meaning the player had to refer to it every time which can be a bit annoying, so to make it better I just included the reference into the UI.
Cinematic User Interface: Cinematics are cool and all but, you always have to give the player the choice of skipping it. So before the fix, the cinematic could have been skipped by pressing any button, but this was sometimes annoying as you would mistakenly skip it. So I added a UI to the cinematic and made it hold to skip, showing the player a progress bar to complete to skip as well. As you can see in the bottom right:
Even though these are little adjustments, player feedback is something that will always make the game more immersive.
