Grapple Hook Swing Optimal Attach Point


The grapple hook mechanic has a significant impact on the gameplay of our game.  I have been polishing it every chance I get, and am always thinking about ways to make it better. As it currently stood, the grapple hook swing was majorly impacted by the location where the player would attach the grapple. If it wasn't an optimal location, the player wouldn't get full immersion in the swing.  Here is the problem:

The solution to the problem was fairly simple: either I select optimal points for the player based on location and initial swing entry or always attach to the center of the object being grappled onto. Both would provide a good result, but I plan to make the grapple points non-uniform and kind of like spheres, so I chose the center of the object solution.  After implementing it, the grapple swing felt much better in places where it was harder to get optimal hit locations. This also reduces the strain on the player, as they don't need to think of where to shoot for the best swing anymore.
